Can Little Rock Get Back to Basics?

💜 Let’s Find Out. đŸŒ»

For the month of March 2025, I’m putting a simple idea to the test: Can we make the best use of what already exists?

No waiting. No overcomplicating. Just showing up.

💜 How It Works

Instead of waiting for new programs or big changes, we’re committing to using what’s already here— Jim Dailey Fitness & Aquatic Center, a city-run facility that’s open, maintained, and ready for the community.

💜 Need Help with Membership Costs?

If the membership fee is a barrier, I’ve got ten spots covered** thanks to community donations and my own paycheck. If more people pitch in, I’ll sponsor more.

⚡ What’s the Worst That Could Happen?

More people show up. The community center gets used. Families and individuals find a safe, welcoming space. This is an experiment. One citizen trying. Somebody listening.

A Word to City Leadership & The Folks Behind the Magic

I want to take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate Mayor Frank Scott Jr, Chief of Staff Kendra Pruitt, Acting City Manager Susan Altrui, Little Rock Outdoor Recreation, and Director Antwan Phillips for responding to my post and committing to making an effort in this challenge.

This isn’t a request for new programs or funding—just an opportunity to ensure what already exists runs as well as it can.

– If one new family walks through the doors of Jim Dailey this month, how can we ensure they see the best of what’s already happening?
– If something at the center isn’t working as it should, can we create space to hear about it and fix what’s reasonable?

If you’re reading this and you have any level of influence over city operations, facilities, or programming, anything you can do—however small—to support this effort is deeply appreciated.

The ask is simple: Help make sure Jim Dailey is a safe, welcoming, and fully operational space this March.
